Helena’s Report on the Pony Club Quiz Finals!

QUIZ REPORT 2013

The Lavant House Quiz Team, Helena Bissex, Livvy Linares, Phoebe Goodale and Lydia McKimm, and their supporters set off for their weekend away in Warwickshire on Saturday afternoon.  Arriving at the Hilton, Warwick, in time for tea/coffee etc and cake, before taking over and rearranging the lounge to watch the Grand National and later on some, but not much, Quiz revision.  Then it was off into Warwick for dinner at ASK, another tradition.

Next morning all the team and gang enjoyed sampling what was on offer from the extensive breakfast buffet at the hotel, some people think this is the main purpose of the weekend!  A photo call outside the hotel followed, before we set off for Moreton Morrell and the quiz.

The quiz started promptly and the first four rounds were completed in record time before the lunch break.  When we returned to the hall the marks for the morning session were on display and Lavant House were lying in first place with 97 points.  For those of us watching, the afternoon rather dragged by as the teams undertook the individual round, the practical, and it seemed to take an age for the points to be totted up before they could reveal the final scores.  There was an anxious wait as the results were revealed in ascending order, first the Branches and then the Centres.  Finally, yes, could we believe it, we had come first with a massive score of 263 points.  Smiles, tears, hugs, and huge grins on all our faces, we were a group of very happy team members and supporters.  It was a great moment for all of us, one that we will never forget.

The Team would like to thank all their parents and supporters for all they did to help the team achieve their goal of becoming National Quiz Champions 2013.  Special thanks to Ward McKimm, for bringing Lydia over from France to take part in the Quiz and for re-arranging their return flights so that Lydia could stay for the results and presentations.
