Dinky looks like the perfect mini version of a quality show hunter but is never going to go any faster than his small jockey would like.  He was a favourite of the proprietor’s daughter when she was younger and attended many off-site Pony Club activities.  Dinky has been with us for years and is very much part of our family.

Eddie

Eddie is a bit of a legend.  Originally bought for the proprietor’s daughter he gave Amelia enormous confidence, so much so they were often seen jumping the top of the wings!  When outgrown, Phoebe (Pexton) then took him over and had huge success on the Goodwood Pony Club teams, before also outgrowing him and then he was swiftly snapped up by Evelyn Sadler and Eddie did a repeat performance with her, moving Evelyn up to the next level as a Pony Club team member until she also outgrew him. 

Sadly 2012/13 Eddie had a recurring hind limb lameness and although he is now sound again, he will never be able to compete at the level he used to.

Lir

Lir is a remarkable pony, so lucky Amelia is the pround owner of this hugely popular people that prospective purchasers were clamouring to buy once they knew his previous owner was moving abroad!  This is a true school master, he has been out there, seen it and done it.  There is nothing Lir does not know how to do well, sensibly and safely.  We would like a yard full of Lirs.

Merlin

Merlin came to us from a riding school and a Riding for Disabled centre which he also helped out with.  A sweet, nicely marked piebald, he has taught many children to ride, attended plenty of pony camps and only became available as his riding school went out of business.  Good to clip, box, catch, shoe, he is an ideal first pony for either child or small adult.

Within a short space of time Merlin (formerly known as Bob in Ireland for our Irish friends who are following his progress) has become an invaluable addition to our riding school and is extremely popular with child and adult rider alike.  A rare gem indeed and certainly guaranteed of a comfy home for life!

Munchkin has been with us for many years now having arrived originally because he quite simply needed to be kept busy doing something and no just standing around in a field as a pet until his young owners had time to ride him during the school holidays!

Arriving with a list of health issues to make your hair curl and quite definitely needing professional management, Munchkin just keeps on going and is quite definitely the perfect pony to first teach your child to ride on – he goes when asked and stops when asked and is simply lovely to handle from the ground. 

Munchkin is a very special pony and particularly more so now for being in our riding school where lots of children get the opportunity to realise just how special he is!

This well balanced, good moving cob with show jumping talent would suit child or adult.  He has an uphill way of going, is comfortable to ride and gets on and does whatever job is asked of him.  Hunted, cross country and show jumped he has also competed in side saddle showing classes with a 10 year old girl.   Naturally forward, without being speedy or strong, he is lovely to hack and handle with a kind and generous temperament.  This is the type of horse you just cannot go wrong on – he will do whatever you ask of him and will suprise you with his ability.

Pebbles is a “picture-perfect” pony with his striking colour, big round tummy and very dainty head.

The confident Pebbles really does know it all – he knows how to teach our smaller children to canter and (very small) jumps and has the perfect manners to match. Pebbles is the ideal starter pony and we know we are very lucky to have him with us.  He is safe on or off the lead rein, he is a very popular pony thanks to being forward going, he also says neighs to everyone to say hello

Polo

Polo is the perfect second pony – he does everything well and confidently and certainly suits the child who prefers a more forward going pony – although he would never dream of taking off with his rider.  Good in all respects, Polo has done a lot of off site Pony Club activities as well as had success in show jumping and hunter trials.  He has so far been the perfect second pony for three successive owners who have all gone on to more advanced horses thanks to the confidence and skills this pony has provided them with.

Rocky is a well marked, quality type of skewbald (tri-coloured) gelding who has been recommended as being quiet in traffic and known to have hunted a whole season in Ireland whilst also competing in training shows.  This has produced a great second pony who knows his job, is forward going but without being scary. You will often see Rocky and Eve out hunting or off to show jumping competitions!

Our first ever appaloosa! Smartie is a real sweetie who loves cuddles and being groomed. He came from a young lady in Ireland who had hunted him and used him for private lessons.
Lucky Holly is now the owner of this fun little horse, you will see her flying around the jumps in the field and knuckling down on her flat work in the arena. These two are already inseparable and we can’t wait to see how the come on this year.

Squeak is an ideal first pony and has proven these credentials by successfully introducing several young owners over the years into the skills of horse-ownership.  A pretty pony, he arrived with our other stars Eddie and Ozzie, and has participated in many Pony Club activities both on and off the lead rein.  Children can handle him very easily and being a bit of a character further endears him to his child riders!

His elderly owner said you would not find a more genuine pony to do anything with and Storm has easily lived up to this description on arriving this side of the Irish Sea.  An attractive and upstanding pony who is forward without being overly speedy, he jumps whatever is put in front of him and is just easy to do everything with in every way.  Having already been out and competed in a bit of Pony Club, training shoes and hunted, he is also fun to hack and is straightforward to handle.

What a wonderful mare! We’re sure Tinkabell will soon be a favourite in our riding school thanks to her incredibly comfortable canter and kind nature. She has also racked up 95 SJI points and used to compete in the Pony Club games. She also loves hunting and cross country – she really can do it all!

 

Now up for sale as we have too many ponies in her particular category in the riding school so someone is going to strike lucky with getting this pony – the only reason she is on the market is it is much more complex for us to keep mares than geldings, so grab a great first pony.

Todd does it all, he’s good on the flat, over fences and hacks out calmly.  Children can handle him easily and safely and he really knows his job inside-out.  The perfect first pony for any small child – definitely worth his weight in gold.

Tyler has been a riding school pony all his life and is fantastic at the job – he is also a bit of a character which we all love .  A handsome, no-nonsense pony with a lot of experience but who is thankfully no longer the escape artist he used to be in the past, Tyler pretty much suits anybody as a first pony.

Willow is a perfect schoolmaster for any child having had a lot of experience competing in all types of activities off site too – she is also a pony that just keeps on getting better with each passing year.
